Dieting?

I have tried many diets. I have lost weight on all of them however I have also regained the weight. The newest “diet” I am trying is “The Full Plate Diet”. My husband and I began a week ago. The plan is to add fiber to your current diet so you do not feel hungry as often, do not eat when you are not hungry, and drink lots of water. This is an eight week program at FHMMC and the only cost involved is for the books. You can check it out at http://www.fullplatediet.org/

Reflections

When sitting quietly, reflect upon our own faults. When speaking with friends do not discuss the rights and wrongs of others. – The Lotus Pond

We are sometimes so quick to judge the actions of others. It is important to remember as humans none of us are perfect. It is wise to think of all of the things that maybe contributing to the action of another before making a comment. Is there a ailing loved one? did some one lose their job? are they losing their home? Remember we all have feelings, emotions, that is what makes us unique and human. Never forget the Golden Rule – to do unto others as you would have others do unto you. That includes gossiping.  Enjoy the “Human Experience”.

Three Easy Things to Improve Your Health

I know nobody wants to hear this however, exercise has been identified as one of the main things to improve health issues. Of course another favorite is preventing colds and flu. Don’t forget our constant companion in the top three causes of health issues, stress.

  • Exercise -
  • simple stretching exercises before beginning a shift can help reduce strained muscles
  • Prevention of Cold and Flu -
    • Hand-washing is key here. Nurses wash entering and exiting patient rooms. wash before and after donning gloves, after touching counters, knobs, shaking hands, picking thing up off the floor….the list is endless
    • Flu Vaccine – TJC is recommending 90% vaccination by 2020 and most likely will require mandatory vaccination by then. OSHA is looking to make it mandatory for any employee that is in a health-care setting.
  • Stress
    • Relaxation techniques such as journaling, meditation, listening to mellow music, breathing exercises, “venting to a confidant” all are ways to “unwind”
